The Bible Is More Than a Book to Know

In this CT article J. T. English writes, “The book we preach as pastors is not a story from a long time ago and a galaxy far, far away. It is the story of this world, just as relevant today as it was all those years ago. We live in a time of innumerable false or disorienting stories. But there is only one true story: the one told in the Bible.”

Waging War Against Drift

In this transcript John Piper is responding to a question about Hebrews 2:1-3, and he makes clear we must begin by understanding we are at war, “Life is war. And we used to say at Bethlehem, “You do not know what prayer is for until you know that life is war.” Prayer is not an intercom to ask the butler for another pillow in the den. Prayer is a wartime walkie-talkie to headquarters. “We need air cover right now, God, or we’re going to be swept away and overrun by the enemy of unbelief.”

He Shatters the Jar

“Many men sign up for pastoring pretty clueless over this reality that stands at the core of their call. Ministry becomes a gospel reenactment in the life of the leader where God puts us through many little “deaths” so that gospel life might flow out of us.”
